In its third year of activities, the municipal government of Puerto Vallarta reaffirmed its commitment to education, achieving significant progress through the program "Students of 10“This program, designed to support the economy of Vallarta families and provide basic education students with the necessary tools for their academic training, delivered school supplies and backpacks to more than 18 thousand students, as well as uniforms and school shoes to 20,012 girls, boys and adolescents from 277 public schools in the municipality.
The interim mayor, Francisco José Martínez Gil, committed to education and determined to combat inequality and school dropouts, together with the city council, allocated 100 percent municipal resources of 22.7 million pesos for this program, bringing well-being to thousands of homes in Puerto Vallarta.
In addition, during this period, 39 grants were awarded in materials to improve the infrastructure of various schools, with a total investment of 697,710 pesos. These actions improved the conditions of the schools, contributing to the well-being and development of the students.
Recognizing the effort and dedication of teachers working in the rural area of Puerto Vallarta, the City Council allocated a monthly support of 21 thousand pesos to seven teachers, guaranteeing access to quality education in areas with limited opportunities.
In collaboration with the state government, the School Transportation Program was maintained, which in this third year managed to mobilize more than 50 thousand young people, covering the daily transfer of 200 students from rural areas and ranches to schools located in urban areas.
To ensure a safe school environment and provide greater peace of mind to parents and guardians, 8.1 million pesos were allocated to provide private medical care to 2,262 students, ensuring that students were protected and received quality medical care at their schools.
Finally, in response to the need to improve school facilities, the municipal government built domes at three educational institutions: the Benito Juárez elementary school in the Buenos Aires neighborhood, the technical secondary school No. 15, and the technical secondary school 132. These works, with an investment of more than 7.2 million pesos, now allow thousands of students and their teachers to carry out their activities in better conditions, protected from the sun and rain.
